For those who don't know:

I qualified 7th for the sprint with a 13.27 200m time trial...dissapointing as I had clocked a 13.17 the week before, except with a proper 3 lap run up....there wasn't time at the Nationals so we only got a 1 lap run at it, which confused many and spoilt everyones times. I had hoped to crack into the 12's but ho hum next time.
1st round I drew Steve Clayton, fresh back from the Worlds and Mario.
I kicked it off with a flyer from way out. Mr Clayton laughed about my uttered "Sh1t" as he came round me at the end of the last bend.
Oh well into the reepcharge and with some tactical help from Steve and Simon Schmidt, I went into it with confidence....similar feelings to my two recent Kierin victories at manchester.......I decided excatly how and when I was going to win it and did so from the front.
I then drew...yep Steve Clayton in the semi final...aghhhhh
I attacked him again but again possibly from too far out...I now know what I should have done but hey I'm a learner at this and he was over a second faster than me in qualifying etc

Well done Steve ......He went on to win the final too

The 750m was less succesful, I broke the minute on my standard bike against the others who all had tri bars etc but finished 7th....next time

Richard Palmer made his debut yesterday too...boy can he spin.
Richard comes from mountain biking and probably his 20 mile trek in an hour on Saturday including hills in just under an hour had drawn the sting from his legs...but chapeau for turning out Richard, that took some guts.

what were we doing there, and why when TM Racing Blazzing Saddles venture out on these adventures does it pour with rain and turn a ridable track into a marshy quagmire?

We did it and finished 34th over all out of 146 teams and 8th in the Vets.

It was going to be interesting at the end, but the plan had been stuck to, no working, no attempted breaks, no chasing down, much to John Leitch's and big Robs disgust. (If it had warranted it I would have worked).
So pushing hard to hold position, I entered the start of the last sweeping bend about 20 back, that'll do nicely until it all started sweeping in up the inside of the bend
Exiting the bend, bang, another puncture in front to my outside, metal on metal lots of shouting, the gap opened like a flower up the inside, so I went as did several others, it was going to be a long one (300+) but neccessary there was a lot of activity. This time as it squeezed in I didn't back off. I slowed quite dramatically though when I hooked handlebars on my right and shoulder squezed on my left, but a second later I was free and putting on the gas......

I reckon I was good for...yes you've guessed it 25th....again

We'll see when the results come out. ho hum.
